Where in the World Are Canadian Oil and Gas Companies?” Applied Research Project

This project began in 2011 as an internal research tool for the development of the Extractive Resource Governance Program (ERGP). It was conceived as a means to identify jurisdictions where Canadian companies have ongoing projects and activities around the world. The accompanying papers describe the research methodology used in collecting this data, as well as some annual highlights for years of study.  The unique interactive map, which accompanies this project, provides users the ability to identify the number of active Canadian exploration and service companies in a particular country; their production levels; number of wells drilled; total amount of royalties paid; among many other metrics.
