It’s all the talk. Digital currency, created by computer programmers, traded in an online wild west, subject to little if any regulation and hard for most of us to even understand. In early 2018 though, the value of “crypto-currencies” was estimated at US $800 BILLION. The growth of Bitcoin and others is undeniable and, according to some, unstoppable. So what are traders, bankers, regulators and even the general public to make of this new financial paradigm?

The Canadian Securities Administrators and the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada have developed a ‘Proposed Framework for Crypto-Asset Trading Platforms’ to bring regulatory clarity, address investor risk and help create market integrity.

If you hold crypto-currency, or are interested in the regulatory considerations, and financial implications of the uncharted territory of digital dough, then we have an event for you. On Tuesday, May 7th please join a panel of experts at our informal Policy and a Pint Series. We will discuss the concepts above, and also provide a primer on a proposed regulatory framework for these new digital assets. This event is perfect for those who like to lift an elbow, while learning.
