Security of State – Evening Public Lecture

Alternate Text or Title of article

Calgary, AB

The world is changing at an unprecedented pace and scale, and global forces will be critical in shaping the Western Canadian economy: The rise of emerging markets, the power of disruptive technologies, changing global demographics, the return of geopolitics, and the changing nature of capitalism. The world’s economic centre of gravity is shifting back to Asia and there will be 2.2 billion new middle class consumers by 2030. Emerging market cities will fuel nearly half of global growth in the next decade, but this will place significant strain on global resources.

The School of Public Policy was pleased to welcome Dominic Barton, Global Managing Director of McKinsey & Company, to discuss how these forces will impact Alberta, the need to look to Asian markets and adopt new ways of doing business to seize global opportunities.
