Alternate Text or Title of article

After developing the program and leading discussions for the successful Canada’s Productivity Summit in October, Dr. Trevor Tombe is one of seven subject-matter experts from across the country appointed to the federal government’s Working Group on Public Service Productivity.

The Working Group was appointed by the Honorable Anita Anand, President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Transport in December and represents various sectors, including the public service, labour, academia, and technology. Anand will Co-Chair the Working Group.

The Group held the first in a series of sessions after it was appointed in December and will deliver a report by March 2025.

The Group’s report is intended to help the federal government more efficiently deliver results for Canadians. The public sector accounts for nearly 40 per cent of Canada’s GDP and enhancing productivity would improve government programs and services and help grow the economy.

Enhancing Productivity in the Public Sector was a session at Canada’s Productivity Summit in Calgary in October 2024 hosted by UCalgary’s School of Public Policy. The two-day conference attracted more than 700 delegates from business, government and academia from coast to coast to coast.
