China and Indo-Pacific
The China and Indo-Pacific research area at the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy advances our understanding and engagement with a region and set of economies that are Alberta and Canada’s second-largest trading partner and critical to this country’s economic future.
Rigorous, evidence-based research and dialogue that helps policymakers, businesses and stakeholders to help proactively navigate complex trade and political dynamics is the objective. By identifying emerging challenges and exploring opportunities to advance Canadian interests, including in the spaces between the U.S. and China, the research focus will deliver insights that can be utilized to strengthen this nation’s capacity to engage with the Indo-Pacific through shared interests, pragmatic solutions, and forward-looking strategies, while avoiding conflict.
