Policy and a Pint – End of Life of Oil & Gas Wells

Alternate Text or Title of article
5 p.m.- 6 p.m.
Calgary

We’ve heard the numbers. The cost estimates to clean up Alberta’s orphaned and abandoned wells are jaw-dropping. And given the current fiscal climate and ensuing bankruptcies, that problem could get worse.

The Supreme Court provided some direction in terms of bankruptcy proceedings, but that does not fill the policy gap in Alberta – one that needs to be addressed before the problem gets bigger.

Please join The School of Public Policy and our expert panel as we propose different options and explore their pros and cons. This is an event for people in the industry, regulators and anyone with an interest in Alberta’s conventional oil and gas sector. This is a casual event, for those who like to lift an elbow, while you learn.

Panel Speakers:

  • Dr. Fenner Stewart, Associate Professor, University of Calgary Law
  • Keely Cameron, Legal Counsel
  • Dr. Blake Shaffer, Adjunct Professor, University of Calgary
  • Dr. Jennifer Winter, Scientific Director, Energy and Environmental Policy,
