Policy in Agriculture Webinar Series – Part III: Ag Tech and the Importance of On-Farm Experimentation

Rapid changes are happening in ag technology. Are Canadian farmers keeping up or falling behind?

Farmers are making tough choices that affect their bottom line every day. Those decisions also impact our food system and our international competitiveness. Are farmers making the best use of information for decision-making? Have the rapid changes in technology kept pace with decisions made on the farm?

In this webinar, we’ll look at new agriculture technology from an intellectual property perspective and discuss the rising importance of “On-Farm Experimentation” (OFE). What options are available for researchers and practitioners to share information and collaborate? What can be commercialized, and what makes sense to protect? How can researchers and government help industry access the right solutions for their on-farm decisions?

Join The Simpson Centre and The School of Public Policy for our Public Education Series, sponsored by UFA Co-operative Ltd. and UFA’s Rural Communities Foundation to discuss engaging issues we are facing in Canadian agri-food.

Speakers:

  • Dr. Simon Cook, Murdoch University
  • Lorelei Graham, Bennett Jones

Moderator: Elena Vinco, Simpson Centre, The School of Public Policy
